This webpage provides information on activities related to Google LLC’s proposed Project Raspberry data center campus. The project would be located within the existing Botetourt Center at Greenfield in Daleville, which is in Botetourt County.

Project Raspberry would disturb 240.4 acres of a 343.6-acre parcel. The data center campus would include the development of:

  • Three data center buildings (approximately 300,000 square feet each)
  • Three substations
  • One office building (approximately 28,000 square feet)
  • Supporting infrastructure (such as access roads, utilities, parking areas, and stormwater management facilities)

On Jan. 21, 2026, DEQ received a Virginia Water Protection (VWP) Permit application for Project Raspberry. This VWP Permit application is currently under review.

  • For details on DEQ’s VWP Permitting process, anticipated resource impacts, and proposed mitigation measures for Project Raspberry, take a look at the ‘Virginia Water Protection (VWP) Permit’ tab on this webpage.
  • To track the status of Project Raspberry’s VWP Permit application, please use DEQ’s Permitting Enhancement and Evaluation Platform (PEEP) online tool.
    • Under the 'Facility Name' field, select 'Project Raspberry' and click 'Apply.'
