The Clinch River Power Station is adjacent to the Clinch River near the town of Carbo in Russell County, Virginia.  The station has two coal combustion residuals (CCR) surface impoundments that managed sluiced or wet CCR from the station as part of the wastewater treatment system.  The station also managed coal ash in an industrial landfill unit adjacent to the power plant.

The impoundments and landfill at this facility are subject to the Virginia Waste Management Act. All units ceased receiving CCR and submitted notification of completion of a final cap to DEQ prior to January 1, 2019. All units are currently being monitored and maintained in post-closure care.
