Radford Army Ammunition Plant Community Meeting

The US Army and BAE Systems is hosting a community meeting on Wed, Feb. 22 to discuss modernization and environmental programs at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. The meeting will be held at 6:30 PM at the Christiansburg Public Library, 125 Sheltman Street in Christiansburg, VA.

New River watershed PCB TMDL kick-offs April 5 at Radford Univ

DEQ is developing a total daily maximum load (TMDL) for PCBs in the New River Watershed. A public information meeting will be held on April 5 at Radford University in the Muse Hall Banquet Room to explain the TMDL water quality improvement process and to provide information about the Technical Advisory Committee being formed. Scientists from DEQ, VDH and VA Tech will also provide information about monitoring efforts and sources of PCBs. The Radford Army Arsenal is one of approximately 40 sources of PCBs in the New River watershed. The meeting is an open house format and interested people can drop by between 6 - 8 pm. Public Information meeting Jan 27

DEQ will hold a public information session on Jan 27 at 7 PM at the Radford Public Library to answer questions related to a draft permit for corrective actions at the facility. The permit will allow continuation of various corrective actions related to solid and hazardous waste management. A public hearing is set for Feb 10 (7 PM) at Radford Public Library.
