DEQ, Water Permit Reporting Workshops March 27, 2014 Harrionsburg, VA


The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Operator Training Program will be presenting "Water Permit Reporting Workshops" at the DEQ Valley Regional Office (Harrisonburg) on Thursday March 27, 2014 from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

The program includes the following two workshops:

VPDES Permit Reporting(8:30 am - noon)
Nutrient General Permit Reporting(1:00 pm - 5:30 pm)

The afternoon session will also include a discussion and demonstration on DEQ's e-DMR program.

Both workshops have been approved by the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals for the following training credits (TC) and can be used for experience substituiton as permitted by the Board.

VPDES Permit: 0.35 TC
Nutrient General Permit: 0.30 TC

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Contact Hours will also be given for completion of the workshop(s)as follows:

Nutrient General Permit: 3.0 CPE's
VPDES Permit: 4.5 CPE's

Registrations are accepted on a "first come, first serve" basis.

Program Costs:

$37.50 each workshop(payable by check or money order)

ASPC, Part 3 Microscopic Examination Middle River WWTP Verona, VA March 25 - 26, 2014


The DEQ, Operator Training Program will be conducting an Activated Sludge Process Control Part 3 (Microscopic Examination) workshop at the Middle River WWTP on March 25 - 26, 2014 in Verona, VA.

The two (2) day workshop provides the knowledge and skills required to evaluate and control the operation of an activated sludge treatment plant using microscopic examination. The program will focus on the basic and more advanced microscope techniques, including observation of protozoa and filament identification.

The program's hands on activities will include identifying microscope components, setting up and using the microscope, examining wet mount slides, biological staining procedures and troubleshooting process performance using activated sludge microrganisms identification.

Managers, operators and operator trainees of activated sludge treatment systems will find this program very helpful.

The workshop has been approved by the State Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals for 1.4 training credits.

Up to 14 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Contact Hours will also be given for completion of the workshop.
