Virginia DEQ
Home MenuIt's not exactly breaking news...but like air, we can't live without water. So it's safe to say we share a clear, invested interest in protecting this natural resource.
Water supports virtually everything we do, from farming, forestry, fishing and recreation to electric power generation and all kinds of manufacturing. Water sustains not only people, but those we share the environment with...namely millions of plants and animals. In Virginia, fresh water use currently totals more than 5,467 million gallons per day, or approximately 826 gallons for each resident in the Commonwealth, every day.
Understanding our role in water use, steps to take to improve water quality, water impacts our daily lives and how all of our individual actions play a part are all things you can find on these pages.
