Sediment Results Summary

2017 Sediment Analysis Data

2017 results are for samples collected mainly within the upper James River Basin (Maury River and Jackson River watersheds), the Chowan River Basin (Meherrin River, Nottoway River and Blackwater River watersheds), the York River Basin (Lake Anna watershed) and from two impoundments (Lake Gordonsville and Motts Run Reservoir).

2016 Sediment Analysis Data

2016 results are for samples collected mainly in the lower Rappahannock River watershed and the lower James River watershed.

2015 Sediment Analysis Data

2015 results are for samples collected mainly within the upper and middle Potomac River watershed.

2014 Sediment Analysis Data

2014 results are for samples collected mainly within Bluestone River watershed, New River watershed, and James River watershed.

2013 Sediment Analysis Data

2013 results are for samples collected mainly within Mountain Run (Culpeper County) watershed of the Rappahannock River basin, Dan River and Roanoke River watersheds of the Roanoke River basin.

2012 Sediment Analysis Data

2012 results are for samples collected mainly in watersheds within the New River and Lower (Tidal) James River Basins.

2006 Sediment Analysis Data

2006 results are for samples collected mainly in the Roanoke River and Rappahannock River Basins plus selected sites in the Potomac River, James River, Small Coastal-Atlantic Ocean drainages, and York River - Lake Anna watersheds. Special studies were conducted in the Chowan River Basin (Blackwater River and Nottoway River watersheds) for metals.

2005 Sediment Analysis Data

2005 results are for samples collected mainly in the Shenandoah River and James River Basins plus selected sites in the Potomac River, York River and Holston River Basins.

2004 Sediment Analysis Data

2004 results are for samples collected mainly in the Potomac River and New River Basins plus selected sites in the Shenandoah River, James River and Roanoke River Basins. Special studies were conducted in the Tennessee-Big Sandy Basin (Beaver Creek and Knox Creek) and Roanoke River Smith Mountain Lake Watershed for PCBs and in the Chowan River Basin (Blackwater River and Great Dismal Canal - Lake Drummond Watersheds) and Dragon Run Swamp - Piankatank River Watershed for metals.

2003 Sediment Analysis Data

2003 results are for samples collected mainly in the York River Basin and Chesapeake Bay-Small Coastal-Atlantic Ocean Drainages plus selected sites in the James River and Potomac River Basins. Special studies were conducted in the Tennessee-Big Sandy Basin (Guest River and Knox Creek) and Bluestone River Watershed.

Special studies were conducted in the Chesapeake Bay-Small Coastal-Atlantic Ocean Drainages.

Special studies were conducted in the Fresh Tidal James River Watershed and Chesapeake Bay-Small Coastal-Atlantic Ocean Drainages.

2000 Sediment Analysis Data

2000 results are for samples collected mainly in the York and New River Basins plus selected sites in the Potomac River Embayments and Lower James River Basin and Chesapeake Bay-Small Coastal Streams-Atlantic Ocean Drainages. Special studies were conducted at selected stations in the Roanoke-Lower Dan and Hyco River Watershed and Levisa Fork Watershed.
