Environmentally Aware Consumers are the Key to the Success of Virginia Green
Virginia Green is a voluntary program that relies on participating facilities to self-certify that they are actively reducing their environmental footprint. To be accepted into the program, facilities must meet the minimum criteria, or core activities, that apply to their sector of the tourism industry. They also must provide information on the additional steps they have taken. Each Virginia Green facility is profiled on the website with a list of their “green” activities so that you, the consumer, can make an informed choice.
You Play a Critical Role in the Success of the Virginia Green Program
We are not out there checking on every Virginia Green facility – YOU ARE. Our program relies upon the active and engaged input of the public to be successful. Here’s what we are asking of you:
-
Take note of the “core activities” for each sector and consider what the Virginia Green facility says it is doing in its Virginia Green profile.
-
Consider filling out a Virginia Green customer feedback card and giving it to the facility manager / front desk.
-
If you have comments, both good and bad, please send an email message to the facility manager AND copy the Virginia Tourism Corporation at
virginiagreen@virginia.org.
-
Always include your SUGGESTIONS for becoming greener. This is how they will improve!
