Hazardous Waste Reporting Requirements

Once a business has identified all the waste streams, determined whether or not the waste is hazardous, calculated the volume of hazardous waste it generates and determined their generator status, the business must do the following based on their generator status.

Large Quantity Generators (LQG) and Treatment Storage and Disposal (TSD) facilities of hazardous waste are required to complete and file a Hazardous Waste Report (Biennial Report) every two years regarding the nature, quantities and disposition of hazardous waste generated and managed. The Biennial Report form (EPA form 8700-13A/B) should be submitted to DEQ by March 1st of every even-numbered year along with the Site ID form.

Hazardous Waste 2019 Biennial Reporting will be due to DEQ by March 1, 2020 for hazardous waste generated and managed in the calendar year 2019

Ways to Submit the Hazardous Waste 2019 Biennial Report

For receiving 2019 hazardous waste biennial report, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has opted to use the Biennial Report application developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. All Large Quantity Generators (LQGs) and Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities (TSDFs) in Virginia are encouraged to submit their Biennial Report using this system.

Please register at https://rcrainfo.epa.gov/rcrainfoprod/action/secured/login to ensure proper user roles are assigned to meet the March 1, 2020 deadline for completion of the 2019 Biennial report.
