Seaside SAMP: Public Input Summary Report (pdf)

Project Summary Provided by Grantee:

A-NPDC coordinated with SAMP working group members to develop strategies to solicit public input for inclusion in a summary report to be submitted to the state study panel. A-NPDC staff reviewed historic resources and compiled relevant information for inclusion and incorporation into informational hand-outs and a presentation for public and stakeholder meetings.

A-NPDC facilitated two public input workshops; engaged over 50 people and 30 different stakeholder groups, and provided a forum to solicit ideas for more efficient ways to adequately manage all-uses on the Seaside. A-NPDC advertised the workshops in multiple media outlets. Senator Northam was represented at the second public workshop. A-NPDC generated a distribution list to keep stakeholders engaged through future updates regarding the SAMP process.

A-NPDC incorporated all solicited information from the meetings into a Public Input Summary Report which was submitted to the chairs of the state study panel who were tasked by the General Assembly to investigate ways to more efficiently manage state-owned bottomlands on the Seaside. The study panel included the Public Input Summary Report and workshop presentation in their report to the General Assembly and Governor.
