Up Folly Creek

Route Description:

Beginners can paddle west and explore the well-protected waters of Folly Creek. About 5 miles.

Launch at the Folly Creek boat ramp. While using the boat ramp be aware of powerboat traffic at all times. As you enter the creek take a left (West). While paddling this protected waterway you will have the opportunity to explore several tributary creeks and salt marsh environments. Always be aware of the location of the main channel and the effects of the tide on the water level. This creek is unmarked, and eventually comes to a dead end. Return to the launch site by retracing your trip down the creek, or choosing an obviously passable alternative route.

Folly Creek to Parker Creek

Route Description:

Advanced and Intermediate paddlers can both do this short trip along Metompkin Bay. Advanced paddlers can also go out to the north end of Cedar Island.

Launch at the Folly Creek boat ramp. While using the boat ramp be aware of powerboat traffic at all times. As you enter the creek take a Right and head out toward Henry Point. At marker # 89 head North (Left) and follow the channel markers into Metomkin Bay. Be aware of the effects of tide on the water level in this wide, shallow bay, but feel free to explore some of the shoreline as conditions allow. At marker #2 turn Left (West) up Parker Creek and follow the winding main channel through the marshes. Look for the public boat ramp on your right and be sure to be aware of boat traffic at all times as this is a popular spot for commercial watermen and recreational fishermen.
