Vehicle Emissions Inspector & Certified Emissions Repair Technician Training

Inspector Training

Emissions Inspectors are required to be certified every 3 years by attending Northern Virginia Community College's (NVCC) AUT-225 offered at the Alexandria and Manassas Campuses.

Certified Emissions Repair Technicians are required to be certified every 3 years by either successfully completing the Certified Emissions Repair Technician course (AUT-226) offered at NVCC's Alexandria and Manassas Campuses or by possessing a valid Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1) from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence.

NVCC Emissions Inspector Class Results

You can view your final class grade on your NVCC online student account. Contact NVCC if you need assistance with accessing your student online account. You must have received at least a 'C' grade to qualify for an emissions inspector license.
