Green Ridge Recycling and Disposal Facility

DEQ received an application on Jan. 22, 2020 for a new proposed municipal sanitary solid waste landfill in Cumberland County, and is in the very early stages of review.

The application, submitted by Green Ridge Recycling and Disposal Facility, LLC, is available to download from this webpage or can be viewed at the Cumberland or Powhatan Public Library.

Due to COVID-19 health concerns, the meeting planned for March 25, at the Cumberland Middle School has been postponed. DEQ will share the revised meeting date as soon as it's been set. This meeting will be an informal briefing where staff will discuss the permit requirements for new landfills, how permits are evaluated, the sequence of steps in the review process, and opportunities for public comment. A brief update on the status of this application will be given. Since the project is in the early stages of review, answers to specific project details may not be available. Meeting notices will be published here, in local newspapers and on the Virginia Town Hall.

During the course of this permitting action, documents submitted by the applicant and review letters issued by DEQ will be posted on this webpage.
