Stormwater and Erosion training and certification requirements for VDOT and individuals working on VDOT projects are largely determined by who signs VDOT’s C107 form.

C107 form Part 1 - Signing on line 1

If you are signing the C107 form (Part1) on signature line 1, no DEQ certification is required, but VDOT ESCCC training is required.

This group typically includes Consultant Contractors.


C107 form Part 1 - Signing on line 2

If you are signing the C107 form (Part 1) on signature line 2, DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector certification is required. Please see the VDOT State Training schedule below.

This group typically includes Consultant Engineer Inspectors (CEI), Quality Assurance Managers (QAM), Quality Assurance Inspectors (QAI), and VDOT State Employees.


C107 form Part 2

If you are signing the C107 form (Part 2), both DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector, and DEQ Stormwater Management Inspector certifications are required. Please see the VDOT State Training schedule below. 

This group typically includes VDOT State Employees.


VDOT State Training Schedule

VDOT state employees should register for the following courses directly in VDOT U Virtual Campus

Inspector for Erosion and Sediment Control

  • April 4-5, 2018: Richmond District
  • May 8-9, 2018: Salem District
  • Sept. 10-11, 2018: NoVa District
  • Oct. 4-5, 2018: Richmond District

Inspector for Stormwater Management

  • April 25-26, 2018: Richmond District
  • May 22-23, 2018: Salem District
  • Sept. 19-20, 2018: NoVa District
  • Oct. 24-25, 2018: Richmond District

For all other DEQ public classes, VDOT state employees should enroll through the VDOT COVLC.
