DEQ Environmental Justice Study

DEQ and its consultants have completed a comprehensive Environmental Justice Study to identify how to best integrate environmental justice into the work of the agency.

The actions outlined here include immediate steps the agency will take to address environmental justice and position the agency to deliver on the Study recommendations through next year’s action plan.

Webinar for DEQ

Skeo Solutions held a webinar on June 17 to share themes gathered during interviews as part of the environmental justice (EJ) study for DEQ. More than 600 people registered for the event. Background

In September 2019, DEQ began work with Skeo Solutions, Inc., a nationally recognized leader in environmental planning and community engagement, to conduct an environmental justice study. Skeo is a federally certified small business founded in 1996 and based in Charlottesville. The Skeo team will identify options and recommendations to DEQ for the development of a strategic approach on environmental justice issues.
