4/16/08:The 2007 Annual Report for the Virginia Aquatic Restoration Trust Fund has been issued. DEQ is currently reviewing the report and will be soliciting public comment soon. See the Virginia Aquatic Trust Fund section of the Wetlands Mitigation Page for the full report including attachments.
2/2/08: Celebrate World Wetlands Day on February 2, 2008! The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands consists of government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and groups of citizens at all levels of the community that have taken advantage of the opportunity to raise public awareness of wetland values and benefits in general, and the Ramsar Convention in particular (established on February 2, 1971 in the Iranian city of Ramsar).
8/9/07: Revisions to 9 VAC 25-210 Virginia Water Protection (VWP) Permit Program Regulation effective July 25, 2007.
6/19/07: The Norfolk District COE Regulatory Office, in conjunction with DEQ, announces the availability of new joint Subdivision Recommendations.
6/1/07: COE issues modified State Program General Permit (07-SPGP-01), effective 6/1/07. Applicants should clearly mark “ SPGP” on the front of any Joint Permit Application submitted for coverage under 07-SPGP-01.
1/18/07: DEQ and COE joint release of the Unified Stream Methodology and Unified Stream Methodology - Public Notice

MAY IS AMERICAN WETLANDS MONTH
Wetlands, Surface Water, and Surface Water Withdrawals/Impoundments
The Virginia Water Protection Permit Program is under the Office of Wetlands and Water Protection/Compliance, within the DEQ Division of Water Quality.

The VWPP Program regulates impacts to state waters, including wetlands. This permit program also serves as Virginia's Section 401 certification program for federal Section 404 permits. Application is made through the Joint Permit Application process for concurrent federal and state project review.
