Virginia Poultry Waste Transfer Reports

The Virginia Pollution Abatement General Permit Regulation for Poultry Waste Management (9 VAC 25-630) requires that permitted poultry growers and poultry waste brokers keep records of transferred poultry waste. The records must include the following:

  1. date of transfer
  2. total tons of waste transferred
  3. nutrient analysis of waste
  4. nearest town and zip code to the intended waste utilization site
  5. nearest waterbody to the intended waste utilization site

The regulation also requires the poultry grower or broker to provide the waste recipient with a copy of the waste analysis and fact sheet regarding proper use and storage of poultry waste.

Poultry waste brokers are also required to keep a record of the source of the poultry waste in their possession, the amount of poultry waste received from the source, and the date the poultry waste was acquired (see 9 VAC 25-630-60).

Copies of records kept by poultry growers are obtained by DEQ inspectors during annual inspections of the facilities. Annual inspections are performed during each Virginia fiscal year (July-June). Copies of records kept by poultry waste brokers are required to be submitted to DEQ by February 15th every year.

Beginning with a report for the 2004 calendar year, summary reports of poultry waste transfers will be provided on this site.  The .pdf files are grouped as follows:

  1. Source County and Summary
  2. Destination County and Summary
  3. Closest Waterbody and Summary
