Commercial property managers
Fluorescent Lamps
Table of contents
More than 90% of all fluorescent lamps are used in commercial office buildings. Fluorescent lamps provide great energy savings in this type of setting. However, the majority of commercial properties are not recycling their lamps. These properties risk liabilities and are likely to be out of compliance with DEQ’s hazardous waste regulations.
Several significant commercial property managers in Virginia have committed to recycle their lamps. Trammell-Crow Company, Transwestern Commercial Services and EMCOR Facilities Services manage millions of square feet of office space and have publicly committed to recycle their lamps (click here for the fact sheet on Commercial Property Managers Project - MS Word format).

Take the Virginia Commercial Property Fluorescent Lamp Challenge!
DEQ is challenging Virginia property managers to voluntarily commit to recycle their fluorescent lamps. Property managers who commit to recycle will be recognized on this website and DEQ will send them a “Certificate of Appreciation”. Interested property managers can contact DEQ’s Tom Griffin at rtgriffin@deq.virginia.gov or download a copy of the Fluorescent Lamp Recycling Commitment Pledge (DOC), fill it out, and email it or FAX it in to 804-698-4533!
