- Landscaping: integrated pest management, organic fertilizers and efficiently timed applications, buffer strips around all water bodies, native vegetation (ex. BayScapes), abundance of indoor plants
- Recycling: purchase of materials with recycled content, benches/piers with plastic lumber, purchase of durable/well-made products with long life, 2-sided copying and printer, paper/cans/bottles/cardboard
- Waste reduction: purchasing from vendors and service providers with a commitment to the environment, utilizing purchasing power to prescribe minimum packaging wastes and require vendors take back packaging
- In the rooms: Optional laundry service, dispensers versus bottles of shampoo, etc., glasses/mugs versus disposables, individual thermostats-efficient HVAC, light sensors, low flow fixtures, can/bottle/newspaper recycling and optional free papers
- Meeting Rooms/Dining: recycling of cans/bottles, glass/silver/cloth napkins, food inventory management-effective bulk purchasing, less toxic cleaners, citrus-based dispensers, grease recycling
- Laundry: environmentally-friendly detergents, use of linens service providers that employ "wet" versus "dry" cleaning, linen segregation (gentle cycles for light soil)
- Water efficiency: low flow restrictors, low flow toilets, dishwashers that re-circulate, maintenance of drips and leaks
- Energy efficiency: efficient HVAC, natural lighting design, light sensors, high efficiency compact fluorescents, EnergyStar computers, refrigerators, etc., insulation, storm windows, building design-tinted windows
- Sustainability: carpets with recycled content and no-VOCs, reused building materials, vintage flooring and beams
- Maintenance: preventative maintenance of all vehicles and equipment, electric/natural gas vehicles or bicycles, fuel-efficient vehicles, last-in/first-out inventory, eliminating use of aerosols, recycling of vehicle fluids, less toxic materials, aequeous parts cleaners, covering/distilling/reusing solvents, use of latex paints, reusing cooling tower waters as much as possible, reuse/donation of unused materials, effective systems of storage, labeling, handling, policy to use "dry" clean-up methods, plug drains in maintenance shops so that spills not discharged to sewer/storm sewer, recycling scrap metal-filters and cardboard
- Boating: clean boating agreements - policies about boat maintenance, pump-outs, fueling-spill prevention, cutoffs, recycling, designated boat washing, well-maintained boats
