Norhtern VA Community College-Manassas DEQ Wastewater Licensure Review Program Rescheduled


The DEQ, "Basic and Advanced Licensure Review" workshop scheduled for presentation at Northern Virginia Community Colege-Manassas Campus on October 29-Novemeber 2, 2012 was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy.

DEQ, Activated Sludge Process Control Part 2 Workshop (Henrico WRF)


The DEQ, Operator Training Program will be conducting an Activated Sludge Process Control Part 2 workshop on October 9 - 10, 2012 from 8:30am - 4:30pm at the Henrico County Water Reclamation Facility in Varina, VA.

This two day workshop will focus on basic and advanced process control strategies, process control calculations, data interpretation and process troubleshooting.

The program's hands on activities will include:

Analysis of operational data
Performing process control calculations
Using the data to adjust operating levels
Troubleshooting performance problems

Managers, operators and operator trainees of activated sludge treatment systems will find this program very helpful.

The workshop has been approved by the State Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals for 2.0 training credits.

Up to 14 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Contact Hours will also be given for completion of the workshop.

The program will focus on basic concepts of the activated sludge process including common observations, basic process control testing, (e.g., Dissolved oxygen, solids, pH),data interpretation and recordkeeping.

The program's hands on activities will include observation of an activated sludge treatment system and collection and analysis of process control samples.

Managers, operators and operator trainees of activated sludge treatment systems will find this program very helpful.

EPA to Hold Webinar on Sustainability Planning for Utilities
