DEQ, "Intro to BNR" Operator Training Class, Broad Run WRF

There is a 2-day "Introduction to Biological Nutrient Removal" workshop scheduled for December 8 - 9, 2009 at the Broad Run Water Reclamation Facility in Loudoun County.

The program will provide an introduction to the basic concepts associated with biological nutrient removal (nitrification, denitrification and biological phosphorus removal).

If you operate or manage a treatment system which includes biological nutrient removal or will be required to implement biological nutrient removal, this program will be helpful.

The cost of the workshop is $100 payable in advance by check or money order to the Department of Environmental Quality.

The program is recognized by the State Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and On-Site Sewage System Professionals for 1.2 training credits.

DEQ, Operator Training Solids Testing Workshop (PRO) Nov. 10, 2009


The DEQ, Operator Training Program has scheduled a "Solids Testing Workshop" at the
Piedmont Regionial office (Glen Allen office) for Tuesday, November 10 (8:30 am - 4:30 pm)

Description: The workshop provides the knowledge and skills required to perform total suspended solids sampling and testing and includes hands on training. It will also include a discussion of sampling and testing procedures for other solids analyses such as volatile solids, settleable solids, and, as time permits, determination of % solids and % volatile matter.

If you perform or supervise the performance of wastewater solids testing you will find this program beneficial.

The Virginia Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals has approved this workshop for 0.5 training credits.

DEQ, Basic Lab Skills Workshop, Glen Allen


The DEQ, Operator Training Program will be presenting a "Basic Lab Skills for Wastewater Operators" workshop at the DEQ, Piedmont Regional Office on October 14 - 15, 2009 in Glen Allen, VA.

This two day workshop is designed to provide hands on instruction in the basic skills required to accurately perform wastewater related sampling and testing.

The program covers:

Lab water sources
Equipment selection, use, cleaning and storage
Sample collection and preservation
Quality assurance(QA)considerations

The program will provide hands-on experience in using glassware and lab instruments.

The program is recognized by the State Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and On-Site Sewage System Professionals for 1.0 training credit.

The cost of the workshop is $100 payable in advance by check or money order to the Department of Environmental Quality.
