Code Orange air quality in Richmond as of 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 5th

As of 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 5th, the air quality index in the Richmond area is in the Code Orange range due to particle pollution. Active children and adults, and people with heart diseases or respiratory ailments, such as asthma, should limit strenuous outdoor activities through today. The current air quality index is indicated at www.deq.virginia.gov/airquality.

A weak cold front and accompanying shower and thunderstorm activity may improve air quality levels somewhat later this afternoon and evening.
