Virginia Water Protection

  • Improve the wetlands program and examine 404 Assumption. (This includes improving alignment between DEQ and Corps, improving multi-agency coordination of permit reviews, improving permit quality and consistency, and improving pre-application process and completeness reviews of permits.)
  • Increase compliance assurance through development of new compliance and inspection strategy

Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System

Lead staff: Ellen Gilinsky

  • Make inspections more valuable (risk based inspections, changes to procedures, etc)
  • Expand use of general permits
  • Streamline individual VPDES permit application and renewal process

Air

  • Improve air permit application process
  • Streamline how changes are incorporated into Title V permits
  • Clarify Title V semi-annual and annual reporting requirements to eliminate duplicative report preparation work by permittees
