South Central meets Lynchburg community at baseball game

DEQ’s South Central Regional Office hosted two informational booths at a Lynchburg Hillcats minor league baseball game in June 2005. The first booth, geared toward children, featured an aquarium stocked with animals that live and feed at the bottom of waterways, called benthic macroinvertebrates. The regional office also provided other environmental friendly and educational items such as lanyards, coloring books and soy-based crayons. The second booth offered general information about DEQ, information pamphlets and brochures, and invitations to the SCRO open house community meeting in July. More than 20 SCRO staff volunteered to work at the event, and everyone enjoyed a good game, even though the hometown team lost 9-4!
