Project Title:
Shoreline Situation Reports for Selected Localities - Caroline and Stafford Counties
Project Description as Proposed:
The Shoreline Situation Reports are an important resource for local and state planners and regulators of Tidewater Virginia. The data collected enhances their ability to make decisions regarding coastal construction, land use planning, and implementation of environmental legislation. The proposed project will complete the Shoreline Situation Reports for Caroline and Stafford Counties. These inventories are now partially complete. All data collection is complete for Caroline County. This project will provide funds to complete field work for Stafford County. Following that, all field data for Caroline and Stafford counties will be processed and published electronically. In addition to maps, tabular data, and a text report that describes the sampling methodology and protocol, GIS files and metadata can also be accessed from a dedicated website maintained by the Center for Coastal Resources Management.

This project has provided resources to collect, process, and publish various elements that comprise the Shoreline Situation Report for the counties of Stafford and Caroline in Virginia. Final deliverables include electronic report, GIS data, maps, tables, and metadata. These have been posted to the growing online inventory of shoreline reports for Virginia and Maryland localities. A copy of the final report for each locality has been delivered to the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program at the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
