Project Description as Proposed:
The focus of Year 3 will be continuation of all tasks. The Coastal Programs new Coastal Specialist will ensure that all available data layers for the seaside are on the DEQ/Coastal Program Internet Mapping System. Coastal Staff will continue to promote the need for restoration funds for the seaside through news articles, field days, etc. Conflict issues between aquaculture, shorebird habitat and other uses, will be addressed through the development of final management recommendations and best management practices for state and federal agencies and the local governments. Oyster, scallop, seagrass, wetlands and bird habitat restoration will be completed and plans for future restoration needs and funding requirements will be finalized. Ecotourism improvements and an assessment of future needs will be completed.
