Project Summary Provided by Grantee:
Restore America's Estuaries planned and conducted a national conference on coastal and estuarine habitat restoration on April 13-16, 2003 in Baltimore, Maryland. More than 800 attendees from 33 coastal states and two nations participated in workshops, plenary sessions, and outdoor learning opportunities to advance the knowledge, pace, practice and success of coastal and estuarine habitat restoration.
Restore America's Estuaries worked with the conference program committee and others to design and print conference registration materials and distribute them via U.S. mail to more than 18,000 potential conference attendees in October 2002. In addition, Restore America's Estuaries sent the registration materials in October by email to nearly 10,000 interested parties and more than a dozen list servers. Restore America's Estuaries has already provided the Virginia Coastal Program with 25 copies of the registration materials. Restore America's Estuaries listed the Virginia Coastal Program as a sponsor at the Patron ($5,000) level in all printed conference materials (registration materials, conference program) and on the RAE Conference web site. The listings included the Virginia Coastal Program's logo and a hyperlink to the Virginia Coastal Program web site from the RAE Conference web site. The Virginia Coastal Program received at no additional cost an exhibit space, two conference registrations, and a ¼ - page ad in the conference program.
