Project Title:
Northern Neck Regional Wetlands Engineer
Project Description as Proposed:
This project encompasses one year of environmental enforcement activities for all Northern Neck localities, provided by the continuation of the Northern Neck Regional Wetlands Engineer position. The proposed budget for this position includes salary, fringe benefits, equipment, supplies, travel, and indirect expenditures. The Regional Wetlands Engineer position provides environmental enforcement, implements consistency in compliance, and offers educational assistance regionally to Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland Counties, including the towns of Colonial Beach, Irvington, Kilmarnock, Montross, Warsaw, and White Stone. Tasks to be performed as requested are: erosion and sediment control inspections, erosion and sediment control plan review, buffer and wetland delineations, BMP inspections, stormwater management and site plan review, wetlands permit compliance inspections, and education presentations. These activities contribute to increased public awareness, consistent compliance on a regional level, improving water quality and buffer and habitat preservation, as well as supporting the Tributary Nutrient Reduction Strategies for the regions' basins
