The
Wetland Engineer position provides technical assistance and project
monitoring for the aforementioned localities. In the last fiscal
year, 328 plans of development were reviewed/or revised for compliance
with the Erosion and Sediment Control regulations, the Chesapeake
Bay Preservation Act, and the Tidal Wetlands Act. In addition, the
Wetlands Engineer acts as an intermediary between the applicants
and other regulatory agencies and assistance programs.
The plans reviewed incurred 1214 inspections in the same time period.
Violations ere identified and cases prepared for local administration
to pursue. Amendments to plans were also developed to overcome difficulties
in the field. Records are kept to help track development for the
purposes of grant reporting and development trends within each locality.
Data sets accrued also assist others in decision-making and ease
of review for environmental impact assessments, e.g., comprehensive
plans.
