Project Title:
Reedy Creek Watershed Management Plan
Project Description as Proposed:
In conjunction with several citizen groups and the Midlothian Neighborhood Team, The City of Richmond will develop a management plan for the Reedy Creek Watershed (2,700 acres located almost entirely within the City of Richmond). The Reedy Creek watershed management plan will consist of: public involvement; study of the existing land use and stormwater infrastructure in the watershed; development of updated hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; identification of "Top 20" watershed "hot spots" where the worst environmental degradation, flooding and property damage are occurring; recommendations which will focus on alternative solutions in accordance with DCR's new stormwater regulations (effective March 1998), such as stormwater detention, floodplain preservation, and tributary restoration; and public outreach and education including "stormwater stenciling", and educational pamphlets geared to both residential and commercial areas.
