Project Title:
Chesapeake Bay Program Coordination and Tributary Strategy Development -- Year 3
Project Description as Proposed:
Two Env. Program Managers (state funded), one Env. Program Planner and two Env. Program Analysts (federally funded) in DEQ's Chesapeake Bay Program Office to administer Virginia DEQ's Chesapeake Bay Program activities and coordinate numerous elements of Virginia's interstate and interagency Bay Program activities and commitments; develop tributary nutrient reduction strategies (in particular, the Rappahannock River Strategy); implement the point-source elements of Virginia's Water Quality Improvement Act; and enhance and implement Virginia's Friend of the Bay Award. This task includes many technical and policy-related functions associated with the successful development and implementation of a wide range of Bay Program responsibilities, including tributary strategies, habitat restoration and riparian forest buffer restoration.
